DescriptionSulindac sulfone is a member of the class of compounds known as indenes and isoindenes. Indenes and isoindenes are compounds containing an indene moiety(which consists of a cyclopentadiene fused to a benzene ring), or a isoindene moiety (which consists of a cyclopentadiene fused to cyclohexadiene ring). Sulindac sulfone is practically insoluble (in water) and a weakly acidic compound (based on its pKa). Sulindac sulfone can be found primarily in blood and urine, as well as in human kidney and liver tissues. Within the cell, sulindac sulfone is primarily located in the cytoplasm and in the membrane (predicted from logP). Sulindac sulfone is a metabolite of sulindac. Sulindac is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug of the arylalkanoic acid class that is marketed in the UK & U.S. by Merck as Clinoril (Wikipedia).
