These are aromatic compounds containing a ketone substituted by one alkyl group, and a phenyl group. p-Ethylacetophenone is an extremely weak basic (essentially neutral) compound (based on its pKa). Outside of the human body, p-Ethylacetophenone has been detected, but not quantified in, tea. This could make p-ethylacetophenone a potential biomarker for the consumption of these foods. These are organic compounds containing the acetophenone structure. |
