These are organic compounds containing a n-nitroso group -ON=O. A nitrite ester having n-pentyl as the alkyl group. Amyl Nitrite is a drug which is used for the rapid relief of angina pectoris. Amyl Nitrite is an extremely weak basic (essentially neutral) compound (based on its pKa). |
