DescriptionRamiprilat, also known as ramiprilic acid, is a member of the class of compounds known as dipeptides. Dipeptides are organic compounds containing a sequence of exactly two alpha-amino acids joined by a peptide bond. Ramiprilat is practically insoluble (in water) and a weakly acidic compound (based on its pKa). Ramiprilat can be found primarily in blood and urine, as well as in human kidney and liver tissues. Within the cell, ramiprilat is primarily located in the cytoplasm. In humans, ramiprilat is involved in a couple of metabolic pathways, which include ramipril metabolism pathway and ramipril pathway. Ramiprilat is a metabolite of ramipril. Ramipril is an angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor, used to treat high blood pressure and congestive heart failure (Wikipedia).
