Identification
HMDB Protein ID HMDBP02730
Secondary Accession Numbers
  • 8235
Name Histidine-rich glycoprotein
Synonyms
  1. HPRG
  2. Histidine-proline-rich glycoprotein
Gene Name HRG
Protein Type Unknown
Biological Properties
General Function Involved in cysteine-type endopeptidase inhibitor activity
Specific Function The physiological function is not yet known. It binds heme, dyes and divalent metal ions. It can inhibit rosette formation and is known to interact with heparin, thrombospondin, and the lysine-binding site of plasminogen. On the basis of its homology with HMW kininogen, the His-rich region of this protein may mediate the contact activation phase of intrinsic blood coagulation cascade
