| Description | Podofilox, also known as condylox or podophyllotoxin 7, belongs to the class of organic compounds known as podophyllotoxins. These are tetralin lignans in which the benzene moiety of the tetralin skeleton is fused to a 1,3-dioxolane and the cyclohexane is fused to a butyrolactone (pyrrolidin-2-one). Podofilox is a drug which is used for treatment of external genital warts (condyloma acuminatum). Podofilox is an extremely weak basic (essentially neutral) compound (based on its pKa). Podofilox is a potentially toxic compound. |
