Description5-Carboxy-2-pentenoyl-CoA, also known as (e)-3,4-dehydroadipoyl-CoA or 2,3-didehydroadipyl-CoA, belongs to the class of organic compounds known as aromatic monoterpenoids. These are monoterpenoids containing at least one aromatic ring. Thus, 5-carboxy-2-pentenoyl-CoA is considered to be a fatty ester lipid molecule. 5-Carboxy-2-pentenoyl-CoA is a very hydrophobic molecule, practically insoluble (in water), and relatively neutral.
